The following Easter Prayer is from the perspective of this joy that we should feel during this season because it is the reason for our salvation.Įaster Prayer (You can pray this over your Easter Dinner as well)Ībba Father, thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, as the sacrificial lamb for our sins. You can read John 19 for the entire story of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17 (NIV) ~ “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Luke 24:5-7 (NIV) “In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” The one who believes in me will live, even though they die and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. John 11:25-26 (NIV) ~ “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. This is what the Gospel of Jesus Christ is all about. However, at his death and resurrection we should be joyous! Why? Because if He did not die then we would not have eternal life. Therefore, His birth is into pain and suffering. Think about it! At Christmas the baby Jesus was born in a manger and his sole purpose was to suffer, go the cross and die for all mankind who will receive his atonement of sin on the cross. We generally celebrate Christmas with great joy and then we mourn at Easter when in actuality it should be the reverse. We see this quite often with orthodox churches. During Easter, especially starting with Holy Thursday, there generally is a time of mourning. ![]()
